Vishnu Akella is a Michigan-born, Los Angeles-based comedian and writer. His debut stand-up special For You (2022) was featured in The New York Times. In 2024 he performed at the Netflix Is a Joke festival and released his second special Escapism. In 2025 his “crowd work” special generated millions of views across  Instagram and TikTok. His most recent release is Big Cats (2025).

While in college, he opened for Hasan Minhaj, Michelle Wolf, and Ken Jeong. His first comedy album Quarantine Calls was released in 2020.

As a writer, his pilot Singh and Son was selected for the SeriesFest Storytellers Initiative and is in development with Pacific Electric Picture Company. He is also the co-creator of Thank You, Come Again, a sketch show currently in post-production. 

In addition to his own specials, Vishnu occasionally directs and produces for other comedians and projects.
